Thanks Adam and Ryan for the great post and for joining us in Chicago. It was so nice to see you both (in person) and we had a wonderful time last weekend. Miss you already!
After dropping “the kids” off at O’Hare Monday afternoon, we returned to our apartment and pretty much fell asleep (young people are exhausting). Actually it became a laundry and grocery shopping day, the highlight of which was finding half sour pickles at the grocery store. It wasn’t exactly picking the winner at the Derby, but we were pretty excited (they can be hard to find)……….sometimes it’s the little things in life, eh.
Tuesday we celebrated my birthday by going for a great run along the lake to the Planetarium, having dinner with Linda, my second cousin Debbie Lee and her son-in-law Brian (I think that means he is married to my second cousin’s daughter once removed….not sure) at the State and Lake Chicago Tavern in the Wit hotel (thanks again Linda!) and then off to the play Motown the Musical at the Oriental Theater. The play was absolutely fantastic. Can’t go wrong with Motown music!
We are now happily continuing our non-stop period of dinners with friends and family. Wednesday night we went to visit Barry and Claudia Altshuler at their home in Barrington. We were joined by “the littles” Sara (19 almost 20) and Josh (18), the 2 youngest of 5 kids, which was a special treat for us. Once again we neglected to get pictures of the new generation so we’ll have to invite ourselves back. Dinner was great and the meal ended with a wonderful ice cream birthday cake. Thanks again guys. We so enjoyed the evening reminiscing and comparing notes on life. Can’t wait to see you both again soon.
Tonight we had the pleasure of visiting with Chuck and Rachel Rosenberg and Chuck’s parents Alice and Elliot (still going strong after 65 years of marriage). Alice and Elliot have spent many many years traveling the USA in their camper so we got some great tips and heard some good stories. A&E, thanks for inviting us to your home and for dinner at the Continental! We truly enjoyed the evening.
