My Kind of Town

Arrived in Chicago late Monday afternoon and checked into our apartment at 345 E. Ohio Street.  The building is in the Streeterville neighborhood and we have a wonderful modified studio on the 37th floor with a fantastic view of River North and the Loop.  My sister Linda stopped by and treated us to a nice dinner at the D4 restaurant which is located in our building.

Tuesday morning we settled into our Chicago routine of morning work-outs (Chicago is one of my favorite cities for running), breakfast in, exploring the city in the afternoon and dinner out.  We met Barb and Dave Rosenberg at Rosebuds on Rush and had a nice time catching up while trying to make a dent in the enormous portions of food that are commonplace in this city’s restaurants.

Wednesday (after workouts and breakfast in), we went on a mission to find our favorite half-sour pickles. Last year the Jewel on Division street was our dependable supplier.  This year we discovered that the location was closed, and all the other downtown grocery stores no longer carry half sours.  So sad.  Oh well, maybe when we venture out to the suburbs……

Our day was not a total loss as we did manage to stop by Wrigley Field and purchase tickets to the game against the Braves a week from Friday.  Can’t wait!  Dinner was left-overs from Rosebuds.

We met Robin’s sister Debbie, niece Jordyn and Jordyn’s boyfriend Jeremy for lunch in Lincoln Park on Thursday.  It was fun hearing about summer camp and grilling Jeremy on his intentions for our niece.  Unfortunately we neglected to snap a photo at lunch, ugh.

After lunch the four of us walked to the Lincoln Park Zoo, visited with the gorillas, then made our way to our apartment to cool off and rest up a bit before meeting Brian for dinner.

We just love being in downtown Chicago and are truly looking forward to the next week. The city looks wonderful and so far we have had perfect weather.  Here are a few pictures from our morning workouts and a couple from dinner.
